I must share two stories here which are sad but reflect the state of affairs on gender discrimination in Africa:

1. I recently participated in a panel where we were 5 panelists on a Social accountability discussion - 3 men and 2 women. After the panel, the moderator (male) asked the audience to clap for the gentlemen on the panel and when murmurs started that there were also ladies, he pointed out that based on their contributions, they were not women but men! This from a senior consultant in the medical profession ?%&!?! - excuse the expletives but just know I grabbed the mic and told him off!

2. A female doctor was sexually abused by a senior consultant recently and she has refused to report for fear of losing her job and her husband!

Don't even think for a minute that the battle is about to end. Its just starting!!
