About Me: As JA Africa CEO, Elizabeth oversees and provides strategic direction for JA operations in 14 countries of sub-Saharan Africa. She also works closely with government and private sector stakeholders to raise awareness and promote support for programs that enable young people in Africa to improve their livelihoods and take control of their future.
Formerly the vice-president of Africa Programs at Heifer International, Elizabeth managed a multi-million dollar portfolio in 12 sub-saharan African countries. Elizabeth is committed to development, especially for people in Africa, where she believes that giving three things—choices, voices, and opportunities—are key to changing the trajectory of development on the continent. Elizabeth is thrilled to be joining the Junior Achievement team and believes strongly that today’s youth are key to Africa’s future and that JA’s work is critical to equipping them with the tools and resources they need to secure that future and lead the continent.
Born and raised in Cameroon, Elizabeth earned a Bachelor’s Degree in International Affairs from Kennesaw State University in Georgia, and has a Masters in African Studies from Yale University. She was a Fulbright Scholar in Zanzibar and started her career at the Carter Presidential Center in Atlanta, GA. She is fluent in English, French, Swahili, and West African Krio and also has working comprehension of Portuguese.
Elizabeth is married to Jason Bintliff and is the mother of two lovely children, Indira and Abira.
