Founder & President, Green Roofs for Healthy Cities

About Me: Steven W. Peck, GRP, Honorary ASLA, is the founder and President of “Green Roofs for Healthy Cities”,, a non-profit industry association that is working to building the green roof and wall industry in North America. He is also the co-founder in 2007 of the World Green Infrastructure Network, an international organization that promotes the use of green infrastructure around the world through education and policy development.

For well over a decade throughout the 1990’s, Mr. Peck conducted public policy research on a variety of environment and economy issues with a focus on environmental technology transfer and public policy, including Canada’s Official Report to the Habitat Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Since then, Mr. Peck has authored or co-authored numerous reports and written extensively on the topic of green roof and wall design, policy and research and has spoken on the subject at conferences worldwide. His latest work, The Rise of Living Architecture contains essays on the development of the green roof and wall industry in North America and profiles of over 50 industry leaders from designers to policy makers. He is also the founder and editor of the Living Architecture Monitor, a quarterly magazine on green infrastructure that is entering its twentieth year of publication.

Mr. Peck is an honorary member of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), because he spearheaded the development of the first and only form of accreditation for those working in the green roof industry, the Green Roof Professional (GRP) designation.
